Transportation: Private CarYour first day of hiking starts with a transfer from Moshi to the Umbwe Gate. The trail begins in a lush rainforest, with dense foliage and towering trees. As you progress, the path becomes steeper, climbing along ridges and through montane forests. After 4-6 hours of trekking, you'll reach Umbwe Camp, nestled among tall trees and thick vegetation.
On the second day, the trail transitions from dense forest to rockier terrain. You will hike along a ridge, catching glimpses of Kilimanjaro's summit as you climb. The day ends at Barranco Camp, where you can enjoy a beautiful sunset in the Barranco Valley.
Today, you tackle the Barranco Wall, a steep climb that requires some light scrambling. After conquering the wall, the trail levels out, providing stunning views of Kilimanjaro and its surrounding landscapes. The day ends at Karanga Camp, allowing time for rest and acclimatization before the final push to the summit.
From Karanga Camp, you'll continue your ascent toward Barafu Camp, which serves as the base camp for the summit attempt. The landscape becomes increasingly barren, with sparse vegetation. Once at Barafu Camp, take the afternoon to rest and prepare for the climb to the summit.
Summit day starts before dawn, with headlamps guiding your way. The climb to Uhuru Peak is steep and challenging, but the sunrise views at the top are unforgettable. After reaching the summit, you will descend back to Barafu Camp for a rest before continuing to Mweka Camp. The descent is steep but rewarding as you head back to lower altitudes.
On the final day, enjoy a leisurely descent from Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate, where you can collect your climbing certificates and celebrate your achievement. A private vehicle will take you back to Moshi, where you can unwind with a warm shower and reflect on your journey. This is the perfect time to relax and share your stories with your fellow climbers.
